Kiki Komori - Collectible Candy Plush - きーきーコウモリ
Kīkī Kōmori is a line of collectible plush based on candy packaging and bats.
In Japanese, kōmori (コウモリ) means bat and kīkī (きーきー) is an onomatopoeia for high-pitched sounds — like an ultrasonic bat call!
They come in four seasonal "flavors": Spring, Summer, Autumn and… Night. In winter, nearly all bats hibernate, so instead there is a dark-looking Night version with dark chocolate. The seasons have seasonally appropriate flowers or fruit.
So why bats… these mammals are actually pollinators! Out of the thousands of species (yes, THOUSANDS), there are only two or three that actually suck blood. A good chunk of bats visit flowers at night to feed on nectar and insects inside.
As a result of these floral visitations, bats help pollinate a lot of trees, among them cacao, so for all the chocolate we eat, we have bats to thank. Other crops pollinated by bats are bananas, mangoes, and even calabash!
